To mark the entry of their latest menu item, the ‘Boujee Bowl’, Nando’s new ad celebrates everything that’s extra; Boujee pays homage to all the sneaker lovers, ‘flexers’, and ‘bowlers’ who are doing the most to live their best lives - for the Gram!

The advert laughs at the “for the Gram” phenomena, from spine-tingling sensory stimulus (for you ASMR lovers), to over-the-top dine-out vibes at the invitation of a hilariously gawdy forex trader. Well-known influencer Pharoafi, who has kept South Africans “influtained” in her own right, also cameos in this parody of what we’ve all gone through to get that perfect Insta-snap. In true Nando’s style, there is also a healthy dose of hilarious hidden jokes and references for fans to find and share.

LG celebrates Global Volunteer Day beyond the 1-day hype

LG Electronics (LG) has partnered with one of Johannesburg’s oldest children’s home - the Johannesburg Children’s Home (JCH), to celebrate World Volunteer Day under the pillar of sustainability.

The home’s 127-year legacy is testament to its sustainable approach and ability to adapt – a culture Fiona Duke, Head of Operations at the Johannesburg Children’s Home (JCH) is proudest of. “Yes we need a lot of support, we need funding and basics to run the home, but what we really need is more partners like LG that are also focused on sustainability and technology to drive self-sufficiency”, says Duke.

JCH has already revived their borehole to reduce utility costs, and it runs many small businesses at the home such as a small bed and breakfast, a catering service, and venue hire.

LG Electronics South Africa, together with the JCH will develop two mutual objectives; teaching the children pride and the responsibility they have towards their environment, as well as sustainability.

“By planting a vegetable garden we are assisting the home with a maintainable solution for providing healthy food for the children well past one day of volunteer activity by extending the food garden. Cleaning the cottages and grounds will demonstrate to the children how to take care of their environments and foster a sense of pride. LG will also be donating a 24kg top loader washing machine with the latest inverter technology, to help lower their water and electricity costs” says Mr CY Kim, Managing Director for LG Electronics South Africa.

Celebrating Africa Month: Marriage of the Past and the Present through Music

Mbuso Khoza and the Afrikan Heritage Ensemble Return to Joburg Theatre with a Dose of Live Music to Celebrate Africa Day

In celebrating Africa Month and tomorrow being Africa Day; award winning vocalist and cultural & heritage proponent, Mbuso Khoza along with the Afrikan Heritage Ensemble will demonstrate their interpretation of what the day means at the Joburg Theatre Mandela stage on 25 May 2019.

This performance follows three consecutive sold-out performances in January 2019 where Khoza and the Afrikan Heritage Ensemble stage the first Isandlwana Lecture of its kind in the country. Patrons can look forward to a mesmeric two-part performance made up of Khoza with a 4-piece band, and Khoza with the 16-voice strong Acapella outfit that will have them enthralled and begging for more.

According to Mbuso Khoza, art is the most influential channel to make the intangible heritage felt, so in pursuit of reviving Afrikan unity it is very important to use it without dividing our people.

56 years ago, Africa decided to exhibit their determination to free itself from foreign exploitation and domination. Today the continent so rich of culture and heritage, having gone through its fair share of bondage that led to this historic occasion still sees many countries participating in the various festivities to mark this day.

Khoza and The Afrikan Heritage Ensemble will give audiences an enchanting performance when they interpret Amahubo, the music from 17th century southern Africa region, concretising this marriage of past and present with the view into the future. The ensemble will also explore the relationship between Amahubo and the songs of struggle.
