Midnight Uzo’s ode to love in new single, Hayi!

Midnight Uzo features Kwaito idol, Professor in her new love song, Hayi!

She is a singer, songwriter and trombone player. Skhumbuzo Mazibuko (28), fondly known as Midnight Uzo releases her highly anticipated single titled “HAYI”, featuring Durban-Kwaito royalty, Professor.

The Afro-House single encapsulates the use of additions, twirls, auxiliary sounds, emotive lyrics and a jazzy melody, Midnight Uzo dares to step out of her Pop-Funk comfort zone. With an unrestricted style and sound, she has been able to break away from being labelled or boxed under one genre.

Hayi is essentially a love song about longing to see someone dear to me. People can interpret it how they wish in their own lives. It can be the longing to see a partner, family, or friend. But it is essentially a song of longing for love.

Having Professor bring his unique Kwaito voice to the song made a big difference. The song is of international sound, and his lyrical prowess just made it then relatable to home. - Midnight Uzo
