Legends and Legacy Ball Africa Awards Announces Tribute to South African Musical Icons

Get ready to dance to the rhythm of history! The highly anticipated 2024 Legends and Legacy Ball Africa Awards will take place on 13 July 2024 at the Sandton Convention Centre, Johannesburg. This year’s event is a grand celebration of 30 years of democracy in South Africa and the spirit of African unity, marking a significant milestone in the continent’s history.

In addition to honouring the esteemed Princess of Africa, Yvonne Chaka Chaka, the event will pay tribute to the legends who have set the stage for South African music: Hugh Masekela, Johnny Clegg, Brenda Fassie, Miriam Makeba, and Lucky Dube. Their timeless musical contributions continue to strike a chord with audiences around the world.

This year’s lineup is set to be a celebration of musical heritage and unity in Africa, featuring show-stopping performances by Mafikizolo, Focalistic, DJ Shilly Mingz, Andy Dosty, Koffi Olomide, Héritier Watanabe, Mpumi Mtsweni, DJ Zinhle, King Promise, Camidoh, and Princess MacDonald. These artists will light up the stage with renditions of Yvonne Chaka Chaka’s iconic hits and tributes to our honoured legends.

In light of the newly signed agreement between Ghana and South Africa, which offers visa free travel and VAT-free trade, this event will also highlight the cultural and tourism ties between the two nations. This historic agreement aligns with the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA) goals of advancing regional integration and fostering economic and cultural development across the continent.
