Celebrating Heritage Day with Dickies

What comes to mind when you think of Dickies? For me, it's Trompies, Alaska, the whole kasie vibe njeee. As South Africa celebrates Heritage Day, have you ever tried to answer these questions: What is heritage? How does it affect you? According to UMass AMherst Centre for Heritage and Society, heritage is "the full range of our inherited traditions, monuments, objects, and culture. Most important, it's the range of contemporary activities, meanings, and behaviours that we draw from." So, a question that comes to mind is: Does heritage evolve? Seems like it; and Dickies has done just that.

They recently announced the launch of the new Evolve sneaker, which is already available in stores and the range features high-top and low-top sneakers. Inspired by street and skate culture, Dickies aimed to create a quality sneaker that is not merely functional, but also inherently cool and fashionable. With the Evolve, Dickies has successfully produced a contemporary, comfortable sneaker that combines both functionality and fashion in a detailed yet uncomplicated design.

Some features of the sneaker include a non-slip outsole, best quality upper fabrication, thick textured front and back bumpers for durability, as well as a comfortable extra-support insole. The shoe is further characterised by its wider comfortable fit, durable waxed laces and its uniquely Dickies reinforced toecap.

Artistic and detailed branding set the Evolve apart from the ordinary sneaker, with nickel-free branded metal trims, a branded Dickies inner lining, and a genuine Dickies ‘D’ outsole. The sneaker’s design is completed with a bold rubber Dickies logo and a small Dickies sidewinder label.

The Evolve range is available in various colours and different fabrics. They're not that bad I must say, price-wise: they range from R299.95 to R399.95.

So, think about it. Does this answer the question I asked: Does culture Evolve?

While thinking about that, take a sneak peek at these babies…
